The pleasure of writing enhances my life. I delight in the creative process, the excitement of formulating a new idea and bringing it to life. And I enjoy researching the details that substantiate a story.
After college, I spent many years in the ever-changing aerospace industry where my career focused on non-fiction technical writing, and engineering and design projects. Along the way, I continued to love the art of both fiction and non-fiction writing and filled my personal journals with short stories.
In 2001, my life took a dramatic turn when my husband reached retirement age. After modest coaxing he convinced me to leave my secure position and begin a travel odyssey. A wise decision for both of us, we spend several months each year on the road. We prefer extended trips that allow enough time to experience the subtle character of a place and to meet and interact with the local culture.
Today I am combining my love of short story compositions and my background in detailed, non-fiction writing. My travel writing experience includes the publication of a variety of articles in regional newspapers and travel websites. I am currently completing a book of travel stories and have published several non-fiction personal stories.
My activities also include golf and hiking and I rarely pass an antique or second hand shop without stopping. I have a passion for hand painted pottery and collect both European (French, Portuguese and Spanish pieces) as well as American pottery and china.
I live with my husband in Arroyo Grande, California, a small mid-state town near the coast. We keep a large world map handy to plan our next trip.
